CCNZ BOP took the opportunity to visit the Wairoa River Bridge Cycleway project, hosted by the Brian Perry Civil Waikato/BOP site team.
The Wairoa River Bridge cycleway will complete the final link in the Omokoroa to Tauranga cycle trail.
The 177m crossing features seven 25m long steel trusses with fibre composite decking to span the Wairoa River, attached to piers on the downstream side of the existing Wairoa Bridge on SH2. Counterweights have been installed on the piers on the upstream side, this design allows for another cycleway to be constructed on the upstream side of the bridge in the future.
Brian Perry Civil Waikato/BOP Regional Manager Adam Plimmer said his company has worked on the construction planning from the early stages.
"We are pleased to bring innovation and sound construction knowledge to the team and we look forward to delivering a successful project for the stakeholders and community."
This site visit was well attended by CCNZ members and proved to be exceptionally interesting for all.
CCNZ Bay of Plenty are planning further site visits within the region. If you have a project or site that may appeal to our members, and are willing to host a site visit, please let us know.
